Mountain Biking
the trails, gravel roads, paved roads and along miles
of sandy beaches exploring throughout the Queen
Charlotte Islands Archipelago is another activity enjoyed in these
parts by some. The extensive network of logging roads and single
track trails provides some rugged and remote locations to enjoy
a ride.
Mountain Biking on the Charlottes
requires that you bring your own bike and equipment.
There is no repair shop or rental shop on the islands. The network
of trails for mountain bikers on the islands is vast, but it is
not officially mapped out for bikers either, probably because
there is no mountain bike club on the islands.
Some of the best biking trails
are active logging roads accessed in Masset
and Port Clements
on Graham Island and around Sandspit
on Moresby Island .A good variety of island bike rides include
peddling through mud, rocking over tree roots, navigating around
deadfall, crossing over wooden bridges, passing logging trucks
and riding sandy beaches for miles.
Remember to bring your own bike,
gear and repair materials. The biking is good,
but you need to be self reliant.
