The Old and New Masset Villages are located on the northern end of Graham Island which is the largest island in the Queen Charlotte Islands archipelago. Old Masset Village is closer to Entry Point and Masset Harbour while New Masset Village is further into Masset Sound near the marina and the Delkatla Wildlife Sanctuary.

It is said that Masset Village, in the early 1800's, was the first community to attract the European pioneers. Many of which, soon settled, drawn to the village because of the prime Halibut and Salmon fishing seasons.

Today, the commercial fishing industry is not nearly as prevalent - giving way to a faster growing recreational fishing industry which caters to the growing tourism crowd.

Masset, Queen Charlottes, is a popular destination for people seeking wilderness adventures such as beach combing , sports fishing, crabbing, bird watching, rock hounds, wilderness camping, boating, photography, sight-seeing, hiking, sea kayaking and golfing. A cultural experience is everywhere you look including viewing Haida First Nation Totem Poles and visiting art galleries.

The Village of Masset, British Columbia is divided into two communities - New and Old Masset. New Masset is the hub of the area providing all of the community commercial amenities.

Old Masset Village is home to the many talented and heralded Haida First Nation artists. Some, of which, can be seen hard at work carving totem poles and canoes from their front yards. Many have their art on display at the unique Art Gallery in Old Masset and other far reaching worldly galleries.

North of Masset is the area of the Tow Hill Ecological Reserve and the Naikoon Provincial Park. A popular park area of the Queen Charlottes accessed by gravel roads.

Explore some of the Queen Charlotte Islands' largest and most expansive, remote sandy beaches like North Beach and East Beach. Or hike some of the island's rugged hiking trails like Cape Fife Trail and East Beach Trail.

Bird Watchers arrive in Masset to view Blue Herons, loons, Bald Eagles, Canada Geese and others at the Delkatla Wildlife Sanctuary while exploring the trails leading to viewing platforms, sandy beaches and wetland bogs.

The community of Masset is one of the larger villages on Graham Island providing many of the main amenities and services of the region including a gas station, a marina, a maritime museum, two grocery stores, ATM machines, laundromat, post office, coffee shops, sports fishing tours, art galleries, a wilderness supply store, pub and a liquor store.
